Live Rooms and Clubs

Culture that happens after the last museum closes, in rooms that hold sixty people or six thousand, and the rules are different in every city.

15 venues 14 cities

Nothing on this site varies more by city than the night. Berlin starts at one in the morning and finishes on Monday; Tokyo runs punctual sets that end before the trains stop; Barcelona treats midnight as the aperitif; New York plays a late set at half past eleven that is usually better and cheaper than the early one.

Door policy is the other variable. The famous Berlin clubs decide at the door and give no reasons; Tokyo's small rooms often charge a drink minimum instead of a ticket; London closes earlier than its reputation suggests. Every entry in this section says what the door actually does.
