VEGA

A 1950s trade union house by Vilhelm Lauritzen, preserved down to the door handles, now a music venue

Live room Copenhagen, Vesterbro€€€€

The teak staircase and the original lamps, which are listed and cannot be touched

Built in 1956 as a workers' assembly house and designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen down to the light fittings, the building became a music venue in 1996 and is protected, which means the teak, the terrazzo and the lamps all survive. Walking up the main staircase to a gig is the most elegant approach to a rock concert in Europe.

Two halls, a main room for about fifteen hundred and a smaller one for four hundred, plus a late bar that runs to five at weekends.
