In short: cinalia sets no cookies, uses no analytics services, loads nothing from third-party servers and does not know who you are unless you write to us.

Visiting the site

When you visit, our host (Hostinger International Ltd., Cyprus, data centre in the EU) processes technically necessary data: IP address, time, page requested, browser. This data is kept in server logs and deleted after 14 days at the latest. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure operation (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

No cookies, no tracking, no third-party content

cinalia sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or social media services. Fonts, images and maps are stored on our own server. While you read, no connection is made to Google, Meta, Instagram, TikTok or other third parties. Maps are our own graphics, not embedded map services.

Tools and quiz

Culture Finder, Festival Planner, 48 Hours, Night Roulette, City Duel, Culture Budget, Museum Time, Era Matcher, the Bucket List and the quiz run entirely in your browser. Your input is not sent to us. A tool's settings live only in the address of the page, after the # sign, so that you can share a result as a link. Only two things are kept on your device between visits: your bucket list and your vote in the reader poll, which your browser stores locally (Local Storage) so that you find them again next time. This is not a cookie, we have no access to it, and you can delete the data at any time in your browser settings.

Sharing

The share buttons are plain links. Only when you click WhatsApp, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest or Telegram does the respective service open with the text and the link, and its own privacy rules then apply. When you save a result image, the image is generated in your browser and downloaded directly.

Poll

If you take part in the poll, your vote is stored anonymously on our server as a count per answer, together with a shortened, salted hash of your IP address that prevents double voting for one month and cannot be traced back to you.

Contact, listings and newsletter

If you write to us via a form or submit a venue for the guide, we process the details you provide (name, email address, message and, where given, venue, city and website) in order to answer your enquiry (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). The message is delivered to our editorial team by email and stored in a log file on the server, which is deleted after 12 months. For the newsletter we store your email address until you unsubscribe, which is possible via a link in every email (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). We do not pass data on to third parties.

Protection against abuse

So that advertising bots do not flood the forms, the server checks every submission automatically. For this it keeps the IP address of a submission for one hour, to slow down repeated submissions from the same source. Rejected submissions are logged with their IP address for at most 30 days to fend off further attacks, and the notification to the editors includes the sender's IP address. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure operation (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Write to info@cinalia.com at any time. You may also complain to a data protection supervisory authority; the one responsible for us is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia.
