LX Factory

A nineteenth-century textile complex under the bridge, now studios, galleries and a bookshop in a printworks

Landmark Lisbon, Alcântara€€€

Ler Devagar, a bookshop in a former printing hall with the presses still in place

A textile and printing complex from 1846, abandoned for decades and occupied since 2008 by studios, galleries, design shops, restaurants and a bookshop that fills a former printing hall across three levels with the old machinery left in place.

It is directly under the approach to the April 25th bridge, which means a continuous low rumble overhead that nobody minds. The Sunday market and the rooftop bars are the busiest parts.
