A former veterinary school with thirty rooms, running the sharpest end of the fringe
The Dissection Room, still tiled, now a performance space
The Royal Dick veterinary school moved out in 2011 and an arts centre moved in, keeping the anatomy lecture theatre, the tiled dissection room and the laboratory corridors as performance spaces. During August it runs one of the most respected fringe programmes in the city, weighted towards theatre that would not get a stage elsewhere.
Outside the festival it is a year-round arts centre with free galleries, studios, a brewery in the old animal hospital and a bar that stays useful long after the shows end.
