Since 1895, alternating art and architecture years, with national pavilions in the Giardini, a central exhibition in the Arsenale and several hundred collateral events scattered through palazzi across the islands.
The opening weeks in spring are the professional event, crowded and expensive. September and October are the best time to visit: the crowds thin, the light improves and everything is still installed.
