Gallery Weekend Berlin
Fifty galleries open together on one weekend, free, with the whole city in attendance
Berlin invented the format in 2005: instead of a fair, the galleries simply coordinate their openings for one weekend in spring, extend their hours and let people walk between them. It has since been copied by a dozen other cities and remains the best version.
Everything is free, the galleries are clustered in Mitte, Potsdamer Straße and Charlottenburg, and the whole thing is best done on a bicycle.
