BBC Proms

Eight weeks of classical music with standing places sold on the day for the price of a coffee

Mid-July to mid-September Promming places about 8 pounds on the day; seats from 20

Founded in 1895 on the principle that a standing place at a concert should cost about what a pint costs, and still doing it: around a thousand promming tickets are sold on the day for every concert at the Royal Albert Hall, cash or app, no advance booking.

Around seventy concerts across eight weeks, broadcast live, with the last night a piece of national theatre that divides the country and sells out through a ballot.
