Sónar
The festival that split itself into day and night and made both work
Founded in 1994 as a festival of advanced music and digital culture, Sónar runs Sónar by Day in the city with talks, installations and smaller sets, and Sónar by Night on the edge of town with the large stages running until six in the morning.
The daytime programme is the distinctive part: a conference and exhibition strand about technology and music that has been genuinely influential rather than decorative.
