Nuit Blanche
One night when the museums stay open until dawn and the city fills with installations, all free
Invented in Paris in 2002 and copied by dozens of cities since: for one night in autumn, museums stay open until the morning, installations appear in public buildings, swimming pools, churches and metro stations, and all of it is free.
The metro runs all night on the route, which is the practical detail that makes the whole thing work.
