Berlin Art Week
Institutions, project spaces and an art fair, coordinated across five days in September
Berlin has never had a dominant art fair and has instead built a coordinated week: the institutions open their autumn exhibitions, the project spaces programme together, the galleries extend hours and a fair runs alongside rather than at the centre.
The result suits the city: decentralised, cheap, heavy on off-space programming and best navigated by bicycle with a rough plan.
