Mario Botta's inverted cone of terracotta brick, holding the celadon

The Samsung family collection, housed in 2004 in three connected buildings designed by Mario Botta, Jean Nouvel and Rem Koolhaas, each handling a different part of the holdings: traditional Korean art in Botta's brick cone, contemporary in Nouvel's corroded steel, temporary exhibitions in Koolhaas's black box.

The traditional collection includes national treasures, and the pairing of twelfth-century celadon with contemporary installation across one site is the argument the museum exists to make.
