Notting Hill Carnival

Europe's largest street festival, Caribbean in origin and entirely free

The August bank holiday weekend FreeFree to attend

Founded in 1966 out of the Caribbean communities of west London, and now a two-day parade with sound systems, steel bands, mas costume troupes and about a million people on the streets of Notting Hill and Ladbroke Grove.

Sunday is family day and considerably calmer; Monday is the main parade. Both are free and neither has a ticket, a gate or a schedule that anyone follows precisely.
