A 1910 gin distillery turned into a campus, with one tower covered in gold leaf
The Haunted House, the gilded building, and Bar Luce designed by Wes Anderson
Rem Koolhaas converted a distillery south of the centre into a campus of seven existing buildings and three new ones, finished in 2015, with one of the old structures covered entirely in gold leaf because it cost roughly the same as plaster and looks considerably better.
The programme runs several exhibitions at once across the buildings, which makes an afternoon here feel like visiting four institutions. Bar Luce, designed by Wes Anderson as a version of a 1950s Milanese café, is free to walk into and worth the trip alone.
